The most valuable scrap metals
Though the overwhelming majority of scrap yards and salvage yards out there will be willing to take pretty much anything and everything that you bring them, they are a handful of metals and materials that are considered to be much more valuable.
If you’re able to bring these metals and materials to your local scrap yard you’re going to be able to put a lot more than a couple of pennies in your back pocket. In fact, if you have a good nose for sniffing out these materials and these metals you might even be able to make quite a bit of cash on the side to support any of your favorite hobbies.
Without further ado, here are some of the most valuable scrap metals out there
Copper is probably the most common “valuable scrap metal” you are going to come across, and it’s probably a metal that you are intimately familiar with.
The overwhelming majority of electronic components in our lives are made with copper, and all of the electrical wiring in our homes are made out of this material as well. You’ll be able to pull it out of old electronics, you’ll be able to pull it out of old appliances, and you will especially be able to pull it out of old box and ceiling fans.
This is definitely one of the materials that you’re going to want to be on the hunt for as it can command top dollar at any scrapyard.
Brass is pretty easy to spot because it looks so much like gold when it is polished up, and theories probably a lot more brass laying around your house than you realize.
Another of the more valuable materials you’re going to find when you’re looking for scrap, you’ll be able to pull brass out of car radiators, ancient light fixtures, the door knocker on your home and the doorknobs inside your home.
If you shoot a lot, all of those casings can be scrapped as well!
It should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that silver is such a popular scrap material, but a lot of people are surprised that they can usually get more money from a scrapyard for the silver they and they can from a dealer or jeweler.
Any quarters made between the years of 1916 and 1964 are incredibly valuable for their silver content, as our dimes made between 1916 and 1964. Silver jewelry can be scrapped, silverware can be scrapped, and anything else with silver can be salvaged as well at top dollar prices.
